Reducing the Noise

Three Applications of the Webber-Fechner Law

If you can just have a little quiet
you can notice things you haven't noticed before.
Ones that were always there
but now with finer resolution.

You can notice cracks and disconnections:
the architecture of pain.

Integration happens through attention.

Perception grows not by trying harder
but by subtracting noise.

Within the body,
it feels like tension and limited range of motion
like dry bits of an orange:
cells shrunken and juiceless.
Attention and relaxation can rejuvenate those dry cells
and reduce the tension further,
organize muscles and ligaments better.

Physical pain disappears.
Injuries can heal.
Capacity and strength increase.

Guided by the soft attention alone.

Within the mind,
it feels like noticing little fractures
when you disconnect from yourself,
as you follow the associations
that happened in the past
because of trauma.
Addictions, distractions,
habits of automated neglect.

Quiet attention allows us to close those painful associations
and get back to the center,
the real you.
Not the stressed and anxious you,
the lively and curious you.
The one who can organize their environment
to be more in harmony with you.
Not the desperate you,
the powerful you.

It's the same process physically and mentally.

And guess what?

It's the same process with another person.

If you can stay present
with another nervous system,
they heal,
and you heal,
same thing:
the disconnections close.

Not through effort,
through presence.
It unfolds.
The integration happens in the nervous systems by themselves.

Literally, all it takes is to show up, slow down and relax.
The body and the mind
and whatever it is that drives us,
take care of the wound.

It's not about doing more of anything.
There's no technique.
No forcing.
Just staying.
Relaxing enough to lessen the noise.
The rest happens automatically.

The less you try,
the more you get.

Perception,
Integration,
Movement,
Connection,
Healing,
Growth,
All one and the same process.

Seeing is an act of love.

Attuned touch helps.

I can show you.
