Precious

Holding Gently

relationshipsattentionaliveness

When we value something,
We give it our whole attention,
Focus on it,
Grow curious about it.
Stay present with it,
Delight in it.

Whatever it is,
It comes alive,
Shows it's true colors
And begins to belong to us.

When our body is precious to us,
We pay attention to it,
Nourish it,
Strengthen it.
It fills with vitality,
Pain and discomfort dissolve.

When our children are precious to us,
They become calmer,
They flourish,
Their talents shine,
They share themselves with us
And thrive in our presence.

When the world is precious to us,
It rewards us with gifts,
good luck and synchronicity.
It opens up for us.

Holding something as precious
Is love.

It's consistent,
Present,
Unconditional,
Non-transactional,
Non-ambiguous,
Pure and true.

When we don't hold something as precious,
We lose it.
It shrivels and hides.
It becomes more and more distant.
We become separate from it.
It dies.

We can cling to it,
Demand its obedience,
And exert our authority!
We can perform grand gestures
of love and care.
Yet, that's no use.
When we try to force love,
Things crumble in our hands.

When something is truly precious to us,
We accept it as it is,
We don't demand performance,
Our care does not have to be earned.

We're not attached:
We have faith
But we are able to let go.
We want what's best for it
And honor its freedom.
