Just Everything
Belonging or Extinction
Modern life is “divide and conquer” taken to the limit.
Even when we’re together in one room,
No one is really with each other,
We’re all staring at other rooms.
In our caffeinated chase of dopamine
We forget that we belong to anything at all.
Everyone is separate from the world
But the fragmentation doesn’t end with the individual,
Our internal parts are at war with each other too.
We’ve hidden what we’re ashamed of.
We’ve disowned parts of who we are.
We perform and pretend parts of us that aren’t even ours.
We need stimulants to work,
We need to numb ourselves to rest.
We abandon the body and treat it like a tool.
We extract and produce.
We’ve disconnected even from the present moment,
Chasing the nostalgia of a memory
that we anticipate and never grasp.
If we have conquered everything
Including ourselves,
Why does it not feel like liberation
But more like enslavement?
What do you think
is the end game of this story?
How long can our species survive
if we treat connection as optional?
Fractured things fall apart,
What else can we expect?
If we cannot care for our earth
And we cannot care for one another,
Then who will care for us?
No money can afford it,
No power can order that,
No institution we’ve seen so far can do that.
We’re here now.
Maybe the path back to connection
starts inside the body.
Inside the places we shut down,
locked and hidden,
so no one could hurt us again.
We need to reconnect with the world.
And first we need to reconnect to ourselves.
And when we do,
we will again be able to be connected to one another.
Maybe the most local solution,
Is also the most global one.
Maybe if we can heal our inner world,
The outer world will be healed as well.
And I know for a fact,
That most of our inner worlds can be healed.
And I know that when we heal inside,
the world outside stops feeling like an enemy.
Maybe then there can be no hard boundary
between the inner and the outer.
No us and them, no me and you.
Just everything.
And then the responsibility will not be a burden
but just belonging.
