Taking from Abundance

Giving from Scarcity

aliveness

I give and I give and I give.
You take and you take and you take.

The taker can't easily tell
If the giving is coming from abundance
Or scarcity.

Giving past your capacity
Is not generosity.
It’s self-abandonment.

It's on the giver
To know how much
They have to give.

It's not the giving
That exhausts you,
It's the effort.

When you give without effort,
It's not draining.
You can keep giving
As if nothing is taken away from you.

Taking can be giving too
But only when the taker appreciates
What's given.

Giving takes effort
When it isn't felt,
When it isn't valued.

What's taken for granted
Is giving wasted.

Gratitude is a multiplier for
Receiving effortlessly
And giving endlessly.

A lack of gratitude
Will make any abundance
Feel like scarcity.

It turns out,
You can take quite a lot
Without receiving anything.

But the more grateful you are,
The more you notice what's given you,
The more effortless it is to give to you.

Abundance of gratitude
Is a gift that keeps giving.
