Before Touching the Ground

First you build the castle in the sky
only then do you add the foundation.

The ground will always be there,
no need to stare at it to know it exists.

If you postpone building the castle
until the foundation is ready
you will never touch the sky.

It won’t arise with certainty,
it will begin with a shape in the clouds
that follows you everywhere.

Then you’ll open a window of longing,
in a tower of faith
and look out toward
what hasn’t happened yet.

Gravity and dirt will tell you
what falls down,
but not what’s worth raising.

The dream won’t become worthy
of the ground below,
unless you first allow it to ascend.

This weightless time is precious,
when else will you have a chance
to say yes to yourself
before the world says yes
in return?
